On Monday, in a video address to journalists, Hassan Nasrallah blamed Israel for the murder of Rafiq al-Hariri, the former Lebanese prime minister. Nasrallah claims he has evidence to prove Israel's involvement in al-Hariri's assassination. Al-Hariri and 22 others were killed in February of 2005 in a bombing.
For many years the assassination was widely blamed on Syria, even though Syria denied any type of involvement. Nasrallah claims Israel used covert operations to attempt an disrupt relations between Hezbollah and the Lebanese government.
Aaron Klein, a political commentator in Jerusalem, told Al Jazeera that the contents of Nasrallah's rare speech were not surprising. (neither are Aaron Kliens statements) Nasrallah has criticized a UN court investigating the assassination because he believes the court is biased. (in favor of Israel)
For those who are unaware, Hassan Nasrallah is the crowned leader of Hezbollah, the organization which is being charged with the assassination of the former prime minister. In 2006, Hezbollah fought a devastating war against the nation of Israel. (Hezbollah went to war with Israel, and now they blame each-other for the assassination.)
Nasrallah claims more information and evidence will be brought to light soon. (he also claims there is enough evidence available already .)
