At the speed of 25 knots on the surface and 33 knots when submerged, the USS Albacore (AGSS-569) is the fastest vehicle in the world under water. This ship is a unique research submarine that pioneered the American version of teardrop hull shape of modern submarines. Enacted in 1952 and launched in 1953.
