Obama gives the Taliban 1 billion dollars

President Obama signed a law providing money for Taliban insurgents who side with the U.S. at the end of last month. The bill provides 1 billion dollars in aide to the Taliban fighters. The goal of the bill is to persuade pro Taliban fighters to join the "forces of stability" by "putting them on the payroll." The program, which is modeled after the sons of Iraq program, has come across heavy skepticism by Afghan and history scholars who claim the Aghan region is a different type of proposition . "The Taliban are inspired by an extreme form of Islam and they interpret it in a very violent way which was not the case in Iraq" said Karin Von Hippel.
